Trip sitter

Trip sitter is a term used by recreational drug users to describe a person who remains sober to ensure the safety of the drug user while he or she is under the influence of a drug. Particularly relevant for psychedelics. Among the recreational drug users' community, use of a trip sitter is considered very responsible. Trip sitters are mentioned in the Responsible Drug User's Oath.
Common Duties
- Preventing the drug user from harming him/herself.
- Preventing the drug user from harming other people.
- Providing emotional support to the drug user.
- Providing or calling for medical assistance if necessary.
