Trex (Card Game)
|
Trex is a trick-taking card game that is played by four people. The game is varied in that it has five modes, called kingdoms.
Rules
- The game is played by 4 players. Opposing players are on the same team.
- The game uses a standard deck of 52 cards.
- The first hand anyone can deal. Whoever gets the seven of hearts owns the kingdom. They must deal for the rest of their kingdom. Then the next player in turn takes his kingdom until all the players have had their kingdoms.
- During each kingdom a player must choose without repetition one of five different modes.
- King, whoever takes the trick containing the king of hearts receives 75 points.
- Queens, each queen taken gives 25 points
- Tricks, each trick gives 10 points
- Diamonds, each diamond gives 15 points
- Trex, in this mode you must organise the cards and finish first. The dealer starts by laying down any jack or if they do not have one then they pass. The next player in turn lays down another jack or a card consecutively from the card on the table of the same suit or passes. Ie, if there is Jack of hearts a player can lay down another jack or a queen of hearts or a ten of hearts. You must lay down a card if you can. Whoever finishes their cards first gets minus 200 points removed from their score. And then minus 150, 100 and 50 in order of finishing.
- After all the players have finished their kingdoms, the scores are added up and whichever team has the player with the highest score loses, even if his/her teammate has the lowest score.
- After each kingdom is over the algebraic sum of the scores should be zero.
- Suit must be followed when possible. If playing in the King, Queen or Diamonds mode and you have no more of the suit being played then you must play the points cards. In other words, if you have no more spades and the king of hearts while playing in the king mode then you must play the king. If you are in a position where you can play several different points cards then you can choose which one to play.
- When it is a player's kingdom, that player must deal.
