Transair Georgian Airline Crashes (September 1993)

In September 1993, two civilian airliners Tupolev Tu-154 belonging to the commercial Transair Georgian Airlines were hit by missiles fired by Abkhazian rebels at Sokhumi, Abkhazia, Georgia.
1. On September 21, an airliner Tu-154 was hit on a landing approach to Sokhumi. The plane crashed in the Black Sea, killing all 5 crew members and 22 passengers.
2. On September 22, another plane, carrying refuges from the besieged city of Sokhumi, was shot on takeoff from the airport. The pane crushed on the runaway, killing 106 of the 132 people on board.
