Tomahawk is a city located in Lincoln County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,770. The city is located to the northeast the Town of Tomahawk and is not contiguous with it. There is also the Town of Lake Tomahawk in Oneida County.
Geography
Tomahawk is located at 45°28'28" North, 89°43'53" West (45.474463, -89.731454)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 22.9 km² (8.8 mi²). 19.3 km² (7.4 mi²) of it is land and 3.6 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 15.84% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 3,770 people, 1,527 households, and 957 families residing in the city. The population density is 195.6/km² (506.8/mi²). There are 1,696 housing units at an average density of 88.0/km² (228.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.98% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.66% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.42% from two or more races. 0.77% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,527 households out of which 30.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% are married couples living together, 10.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.3% are non-families. 32.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.99.
In the city the population is spread out with 25.1% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 20.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 88.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.0 males.
