Tom Maguire
|
Commandant-General Tom Maguire was a member of the Western Command of the IRA and longest living survivor of the Second Dáil of the Irish Republic.
He remained faithful to the Republic throughout his life. Comdt-Gen. Maguire was one of the signatories to the 1938 Delegation of the Executive Powers of Government of Dáil Éireann to the Army Council of the IRA to hold in trust. The Continuity Army Council - recognised by Maguire - exercises these powers to this day as the lawful government of the Irish Republic.
