Theophilus

Various people have been known by the name Theophilus, which means "lover of God". These include:
- Theophilus is the name to which the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles is addressed.
- Theophilus of Antioch — (c. 163), an early Christian patriarch.
- Theophilus of Alexandria — (? – 412) patriarch of Alexandria.
- Theophilus of Adana — (died c. 538) bishop who made a pact with the devil.
- Emperor Theophilus — (829 – 842) a Byzantine emperor of the second of the Phrygian dynasty.
- Theophilus Presbyter — (1070 – 1125) a Benedictine monk, metallurgist, and armourer. Thought to be a pseudonym of Roger of Helmarshausen
There is also a Theophilus crater on the Moon.
