The Mummy was a 1959 British horror movie starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing. It was one of Hammer Film Productions Ltd.'s remakes of Universal horror films. Although it is often assumed to have remade 1932's The Mummy, which starred Boris Karloff, the film actually derived its plot and characters entirely from two later, 1940s, Universal b-movies about a different living mummy, Kharis, entitled The Mummy's Hand and The Mummy's Tomb.
