The Black Dahlia Murder is a death metal band from Detroit, Michigan. Their music incorporates death grunts and blast beats into melodic death metal. Their influences include At The Gates and Carcass. Some people think their music is too similar to that of At The Gates and classify them as a ripoff. Some would also claim that the Swedish black/death metal band Dissection (band) had a incredible amount of influence, as the name of the first LP is Unhallowed. This title is the very same as a song off Dissection's seminal 1995 release Storm of the Light's Bane. The band is named after the unsolved murder of actress Elizabeth Short who was often referred to as The Black Dahlia for frequently dressing in black. Sounds similar to Darkest Hour.
