The 13th Warrior is a 1999 action film based on Michael Crichton's novel Eaters of the Dead, directed by Crichton with John McTiernan, and starring Antonio Banderas as Ahmed ibn Fahdlan (Aḩmad ibn Faḑlān) and Vladimir Kulich as Buliwyf (Beowulf).
The frame story is adapted from the tenth-century Arabic writings of Ibn Faḑlān, while the central sequence of events is an adaptation of the Anglo-Saxon epic Beowulf. The movie goes to some pains to achieve a historical atmosphere, including use of Norwegian, Danish, Greek, and Latin dialogue.
This film is released by Touchstone Pictures, and distributed by Buena Vista Pictures Distribution, Inc.
