Men's Singles Round of 64
The major upset in the first round came when Jiri Novak took advantage of Tim Henman's inconsistent play this year beating him in straight sets. Tim the number 4 seed here was hoping to add to the silver medal he had won in doubles at the 1996 Summer Olympics. To rub salt into Henman's wounds, the Greek officials spelt his name wrong on the news conference board at the post match media meeting.
