The Orbs of the Prophets

These descriptions were written by Mike Rouse-Deane

The Orb of Wisdom

Known as the Eye of the Prophets. It reveals obscure or unrealised truths about the user's present situation through surreal imagery. The visions it presents will either hint at an answer to a current problem or tell the user something about himself that he does not consciously know. This was the first orb to appear on Bajor, it was taken by the Cardassians after the Occupation, but two years later the Ferengi Grand Nagus acquired it from a contact on Cardassia III, and sold it back to the Bajoran people for a substantial fee.

The Orb of Time

The Orb of Time is the second orb. This allows the user to be sent throughout time to alter a certain moment. After which, time would be altered for the users better, or worse, depending on the outcome. This orb was given back to the Bajoran people in 2373, from the Cardassians. However, disgraced Klingon spy Arne Darvin used the orb of Time to take the Defiant back to the year 2267, as part of his plan to kill Captain Kirk.

The Orb of Prophecy and Change

Also known as the Hand of the Prophets, it is the third orb. This orb has a blue coloration and reveals obscure or unexpected truths about the user's future through surreal imagery. Because this orb takes into account the intentions and expectations of the user as well as surrounding circumstances, the visions it presents are more detailed than those revealed by the Orb of the Inevitable, but are at the same time much less concrete and harder to understand. This orb is now in the hands of the Bajoran people, after it was taken by the Cardassians.

The Orb of Recollection

Also known as the Heart of the Prophets, it is the fourth orb. This orb plays out an untrue scene from the past drawn from what the user believes or wishes has happened. Unhampered by the actual reality of events, this Orb shows the user exactly what he remembers happening, whether it actually happened that way or not. This orb has not been located at this present date.

The Orb of Hopes and Aspirations

Also known as the Mind of the Prophets, it is the fifth orb. This orb takes the user into a untrue future that is based entirely upon the user's wishes, dreams, and hopes for the future. Regardless of how improbable these hopes are, the user will discover that this future has unfolded exactly as he hoped it would. This orb is still missing.

The Orb of Dreams and Fantasies

Also known as the Soul of the Prophets, it is the sixth orb. This orb plays out an untrue present drawn from the imagination and mental wanderings of the user. The user becomes part of his own dream world. This orb was desecrated and a fragment of it was taken by the leader of a small village. He and his descendants used this fragment to create a shapeless evil called the Dal'Rok from the thoughts of the villagers, as a way of uniting them in a common purpose.

The Orb of the Inevitable

Also known as the Breath of the Prophets, it is the seventh orb of the Bajoran people. This orb reveals concrete scenes of the future, which the user can not change or alter. These scenes reveal events that are going to happen at some time in his future. Because the future can be altered, these scenes are revealed are either entirely out of the control of the user, or are so short and disjointed that the user could never consciously prevent them from happening. This orb has still not been located.

The Orb of Being

Also known as the Blood of the Prophets, it is the eighth orb for the Bajoran people. However, this orb has never been located. This orb strips away the past and future and the distractions of one's own thoughts, leaving the user centered entirely in the present, fully aware of his concrete physical presence and the presence of those things that are around him. This orb's power is similar to the result of mantra meditation on other worlds.

The Orb of the Unforgettable

Also known as the Tear of the Prophet, it is the ninth orb. This orb was the only orb that the Bajoran people had kept from the Cardassian's. This orb reveals concrete scenes of past deeds. When using this orb, a person will relive a scene from his past, which will be exactly recreated in every detail.

The Orb of the Emissary

Discovered in 2375, although not one of the nine orbs which landed on Bajor. This orb has a white coloration and not much is known about this orb since it has only recently been discovered. The Orb of the Emissary allows only the true Emissary himself to open the box, and will electrify other users. This orb is used to help rid the Celestrial Temple of Pah-Wraiths. It was discovered by Benjamin Sisko through this orb that his mother was a prophet who inhabited the physical body of his mother in order to assure the mating of his father with her, thus producing Benjamin Sisko.
