Takhat

The word Takhat literally means 'seat of power' or 'throne of authority' and refers to one of the five bodies of authority for the Sikhs. Sometimes 'Takhat' is spelled 'Takat' or even 'Takht'.
These five authoritative bodies of power are:
- Akal Takhat, at Amritsar
- Takhat KeshGarh Sahib, at Anandpur
- Takhat Patna Sahib, in Bihar District
- Takhat Hazur Sahib, in Nanded
- Takhat Damdama Sahib, in Talwandi Sabo, Bhatinda
