Taillow is a Flying-type Pokémon common in the fictional land of Hoenn from the Pokémon Ruby,Pokémon Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald games. Just like Pidgey is common in Kanto.

Name Origin

The name Taillow is a combination of the words tail, referring to its forked tail, and swallow.

Pokédex Definition

Ruby: "Taillow courageously stands its ground againts foes, however strong they may be. This gutsy Pokémon will remain defiant even after a loss. On the other hand, it cries loudly if it becomes hungry."

Sapphire: "Taillow is young - it has only just left its nest. As a result, it sometimes becomes lonesome and cries at night. This Pokémon feeds on Wurmple that live in forests."

Emerald: "Although it is small, it is very courageous. It will take on a Skarmory on an equal footing. However, it still weakens if it becomes hungry."

Anime Appearance

In the Pokémon Anime, Ash Ketchum has a Taillow that he caught in Petalburg Woods. It was the leader of a flock of Taillow that attacked them to steal their food.

In the episode "Beginning Challenge! Sky Match: Pokéringer!?!", Ash's Taillow evolves into Swellow.
