Tahr
|
The tahr, genus Hemitragus, is the common name for three species of mountain-dwelling Asian goat-antelopes. They have shaggy coats and curved horns. Tahrs are in the family Bovidae with other even-toed, horned ungulates like cattle and antelope. They are related to true goats.
The three species are Himalayan tahr (Hemitragus jemlahicus), Arabian tahr (Hemitragus jayakari), and Nilgiri tahr (Hemitragus hylocrius).
