Stekene is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Kemzeke and Stekene proper. On January 1st, 2004 Stekene had a total population of 16,809 (8,358 males and 8,451 females). The total area is 44.80 km² which gives a population density of 375.22 inhabitants per km².
