St. Mary's is the largest island of the Isles of Scilly. The main town, Hugh Town was sold to the inhabitants by the British crown in 1949. The rest of the island belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall.
The island became the home of British Prime Minister Harold Wilson and his final resting place after his death in 1995.
