Spümcø International is a North American cartoon animation studio. It was founded in 1989 by Canadian animator John Kricfalusi and his partners Jim Smith, Bob Camp, and Lynne Naylor. The Ren and Stimpy cartoons claim that Spümcø (or "spum") is the Danish word for quality, but no such word exists. The Danish word for quality is actually kvalitet. The company's Canadian studio closed down around early 2005. A significant portion of the company's material was given to ASIFA-Hollywood's animation archives, but Kricfalusi stills owns the rights to the characters and recently moved back to Los Angeles to reactivate the company.
