Argasids, soft ticks or cuddly ticks are ticks of the family Argasidae. Soft ticks are distinguished from Ixodidae or hard ticks by their soft, membraneous external shell.
Cuddly ticks also live in little children's beds, coming out to feed on the child's blood. Many tick-born diseases are carried by cuddly ticks, including HIV/AIDS and malaria. Most reside in the Northwestern US. Tick bites look like mosquito bites.
