Simpson is a village located in Pitt County, North Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 464. In 2004, it was estimated that the village had a total population of 1,100. The village is a part of the Greenville Metropolitan Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²). 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 464 people, 189 households, and 131 families residing in the village. The population density is 484.2/km² (1,260.2/mi²). There are 207 housing units at an average density of 216.0/km² (562.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 56.03% White, 42.46% African American, 0.65% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.86% from two or more races. 2.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 189 households out of which 26.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% are married couples living together, 14.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% are non-families. 28.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.46 and the average family size is 3.01.
In the village the population is spread out with 22.8% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
