Shingle Springs is a census-designated place located in El Dorado County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,643. It is located about 40 miles from Sacramento in the historic gold country foothills. The historic towns of Coloma and Placerville are less than 15 miles away.

Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,643 people, 951 households, and 731 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 195.9/km² (507.4/mi²). There are 969 housing units at an average density of 71.8/km² (186.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 91.68% White, 0.38% Black or African American, 1.29% Native American, 1.63% Asian, 0.15% Pacific Islander, 1.32% from other races, and 3.56% from two or more races. 6.62% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 951 households out of which 37.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.8% are married couples living together, 13.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.1% are non-families. 18.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.76 and the average family size is 3.12.
