Seydou Diarra
|
Seydou Elimane Diarra (born November 23, 1933) is the Prime Minister of Côte d'Ivoire. He was prime minister from May to October of 2000 while Robert Guéï, who seized power in a December 1999 coup, was president. He was again appointed Prime Minister in February 2003 as part of a deal to end the country's 2002-2003 civil war, because he is considered by some to be a neutral figure; however, many supporters of President Laurent Gbagbo accuse him of not taking a strong stance against the rebels, despite their failure to disarm in October 2004, and have demanded his resignation.
