Servants of the Light
|
The Servants Of the Light School of Occult Science (SOL) is an occult mystery school, registered as a non-profit organization, founded in 1965 by W. E. Butler in England.
It claims to have a contact with an Ascended Master and teaches by correspondence various philosophical, mystical and New Age topics.
While it does also teach magic, these teachings are only accessible after some time of membership and are not generally emphasized. Occultists who see magic as the Occult Science have criticized this.
The current (as of 2004) Director of Studies is Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki.

The Servants of the Light School has an Inner Plane Contact, which is not to be confused with an Ascended Master. The Ascended Masters derive their title and definition from Madame Blavatsky's Theospohical Society. While Ascended Masters may serve as Inner Plane Contacts, Inner Plane Contacts are not necessarily Ascended Masters. The School teaches the Western Inner Tradition, which is a large body of lore that has developed in the West since the European Renaissance. This Tradition derives from many sources and expresses itself in many ways. Some of the better known aspects of the Western Tradition are: Kabbalah, Hermetica, Rosicrucianism, Gnosticism, Alchemy, Theurgy, etc. The School itself was founded by the late W.E. Butler, who was a student of Dion Fortune of Golden Dawn fame. Butler handed over the reins of the school to the current Director of Studies, Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki, who was personally trained by Butler. Under the direction of Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki, the school has grown into an international presence, with members and activities across the globe.
