Sanji (サンジ) is a fictional character in the anime and manga One Piece.
Sanji is the cook aboard the Merry Go, the ship belonging to Monkey D. Luffy's band of pirates which also include Roronoa Zolo (Roronoa Zoro in the Japanese version), Nami and Usopp. His powers are superb fighting skills that only makes use of the lower part of the body, in an effort to minimise damage of his hands which would impair his cooking skills.
His cooking skills are also the best within the manga One Piece, second to only the top Chef Zeff (Zeff, known as "Red Shoes the Pirate" in the English anime, used to be a famed pirate captain because of his kicking techniques, only because of a crisis, he lost his lower right leg) at the restaurant ship Baratie Ocean-Going Restaurant (called Baratie Bistro of the Brine in the English anime). Sanji loved his job as assistant chef so much that he had to be chased away to join the "Straw Hat Pirates" so he could sail the Grand Line with them and locate the legendary sea, All Blue (Great Blue in the English anime). He and Zolo don't always get along though.
In the manga and the original Japanese anime, Sanji smokes cigarettes. In the English anime, Sanji sucks on lollipops. In the English-language manga, Sanji often uses "crap" as an adjective while speaking. E.g. he oftentimes calls Zeff "crap-geezer".
Also, Sanji is quite the "charmer" in a way. He tends to flirt with any attractive woman he sees, specifically Nami when aboard the Merry Go.
He is normally voiced in the Japanese anime by Hiroaki Hirata; though in flashback scenes of him as a child, he is voiced by Ikue Otani. In the US version Sanji is voiced by David Moo, with Veronica Taylor doing his child flashback voice.zh:香吉士
