Saginaw Charter Township is a charter township located in Saginaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 39,657. The city of Saginaw is adjacent to the township.
For statistical reporting, the census bureau defined two regions within the township: Saginaw Township North and Saginaw Township South. This division is purely for statistical purposes and does not reflect any present or historical self-identification of the residents in these areas.

Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 64.2 km² (24.8 mi²). 63.8 km² (24.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.56% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 39,657 people, 17,096 households, and 10,685 families residing in the township. The population density is 621.2/km² (1,608.9/mi²). There are 17,859 housing units at an average density of 279.7/km² (724.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 88.77% White, 5.28% African American, 0.27% Native American, 2.68% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.47% from other races, and 1.52% from two or more races. 4.17% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 17,096 households out of which 25.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.3% are married couples living together, 8.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 37.5% are non-families. 31.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.27 and the average family size is 2.88.
In the township the population is spread out with 21.1% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 88.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.4 males.
The median income for a household in the township is $45,147, and the median income for a family is $60,625. Males have a median income of $49,084 versus $30,620 for females. The per capita income for the township is $25,759. 6.6% of the population and 4.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.0% of those are under the age of 18 and 8.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
