The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences or Kungl. Vetenskapsakademin, founded in 1739 by King Frederick I, is one of the Royal Academies in Sweden. The Academy is an independent organization, which acts to promote sciences, especially natural sciences and mathematics. Committees of the Academy also acts as selection boards for the Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry and the Prize in Economic Sciences.
