Rick Jones was one of the best-known faces on BBC children's television programmes during the 1960s and 1970s.
Canadian by birth, he began his TV career as a presenter of Playschool, a daily programme for pre-school children, in which he played guitar and sang. In 1972, he became the star of Fingerbobs another popular show for younger children, in which Jones created characters from finger puppets made of paper.
