Richfield Township is a township located in Roscommon County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 4,139.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 188.8 km² (72.9 mi²). 178.5 km² (68.9 mi²) of it is land and 10.4 km² (4.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.50% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 4,139 people, 1,896 households, and 1,239 families residing in the township. The population density is 23.2/km² (60.1/mi²). There are 3,760 housing units at an average density of 21.1/km² (54.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 97.99% White, 0.07% African American, 0.89% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.12% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. 0.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,896 households out of which 19.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% are married couples living together, 9.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 34.6% are non-families. 30.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family size is 2.65.
