Red Oaks Mill is a hamlet ( and census-designated place) in Dutchess County, New York. It lies within the limits of the Town of Poughkeepsie. As of the 2000 census, the hamlet had a total population of 4,930.
Red Oaks Mill is southeast of the City of Poughkeepsie and can be considered a suburb of the city. The community is in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the hamlet has a total area of 9.3 km² (3.6 mi²). 9.1 km² (3.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.22% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,930 people, 1,724 households, and 1,411 families residing in the hanlet. The population density is 540.8/km² (1,401.5/mi²). There are 1,767 housing units at an average density of 193.8/km² (502.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the hamlet is 89.74% White, 4.67% African American, 0.14% Native American, 2.80% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.50% from other races, and 1.16% from two or more races. 5.05% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,724 households out of which 36.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1% are married couples living together, 7.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.1% are non-families. 15.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.85 and the average family size is 3.17.
