Reality Bites (1994) is an American film which stars Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Ben Stiller, Steve Zahn, and Janeane Garofalo
The plot follows the life of recent college graduate Lelaine Pierce (Ryder) and her attempts to capture the strife and problems that her generation must face by making a documentary about her friends. Lelaine's friends include the somewhat eccentric and promiscuous Vickie (Garofalo), the intelligent but lazy Troy (Hawke), and the shy, quiet and gay Sammy (Zahn). Lelaine also meets Michael (Stiller) after she throws a cigarette into his convertible causing him to crash into her. The two agree to go on a date, which makes Troy upset because he loves her but is incapable of admitting it.
