R.U. Seerius

R.U. Seerius is a banjo player and bus driver in the United Kingdom. Having changed his name by deed poll, he is believed to be the only parliamentary candidate ever to stand at Parliamenary election's without a first name. He played in a band called Shamus O'blivion and the Megadeth Morrismen from 1991 - 2002. He stood for the Official Monster Raving Loony Party for Erewash at the 2001 general election, taking 428 votes — nearly 1%, and beating the Socialist Labour Party into seventh place. He stood for the party at the Leicester South by-election in 2004, beaten narrowly into sixth place by the SLP. He became England's first OMRLP shop steward in 2003, and became a Councillor for the Sawley Parish Council (Erewash) in 2005. He stood as a OMRLP candidate in the General election 2005 taking 287 votes, against Robert Kilroy-Silk (Veritas) and came in 7th place. He is the OMRLP's Shadow Minister for Uncommitted Manifesto Commitments.
