Qiryat Bialik

Qiryat Bialik (קרית ביאליק; unofficially also spelled Kiryat Bialik) is a city in the Haifa District in Israel. According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), at the end of 2001 the city had a total population of 36,900. The city was named after the poet Haim Nahman Bialik.

Demographics

According to CBS, in 2001 the ethnic makeup of the city was all Jewish and other non-Arabs, without significant Arab population. In 2001 there were 569 immigrant settlers. See Population groups in Israel.

According to CBS, in 2001 there were 17,600 males and 19,300 females. The population of the city was spread out with 26.8% 19 years of age or younger, 15.9% between 20 and 29, 17.5% between 30 and 44, 20.4% from 45 to 59, 4.5% from 60 to 64, and 14.9% 65 years of age or older. The population growth rate in 2001 was 0.7%.

Income

According to CBS, as of 2000, in the city there were 15,077 salaried workers and 922 are self-employed. The mean monthly wage in 2000 for a salaried worker in the city is ILS 5,869, a real change of 5.6% over the course of 2000. Salaried males have a mean monthly wage of ILS 7,566 (a real change of 5.7%) versus ILS 4,165 for females (a real change of 3.3%). The mean income for the self-employed is 7,086. There are 810 people who receive unemployment benefits and 2,339 people who receive an income guarantee.

Education

According to CBS, there are 9 schools and 6,671 students in the city. They are spread out as 6 elementary schools and 2,650 elementary school students, and 3 high schools and 4,021 high school students. 62.5% of 12th grade students were entitled to a matriculation certificate in 2001.he:קריית ביאליק
