Port Salerno is a census-designated place located in Martin County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 10,141.

Port Salerno is located at 27°8'39" North, 80°11'30" West (27.144090, -80.191765)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 10.4 km² (4.0 mi²). 9.4 km² (3.6 mi²) of it is land and 1.0 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.95% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 10,141 people, 4,466 households, and 2,862 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,081.6/km² (2,803.2/mi²). There are 5,126 housing units at an average density of 546.7/km² (1,416.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 88.50% White, 6.95% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.68% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 2.27% from other races, and 1.34% from two or more races. 8.16% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 4,466 households out of which 23.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.9% are married couples living together, 9.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.9% are non-families. 28.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.25 and the average family size is 2.73.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 19.9% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 24.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.7 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $39,839, and the median income for a family is $45,016. Males have a median income of $32,420 versus $25,371 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $24,948. 9.6% of the population and 7.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 15.9% of those under the age of 18 and 6.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
