Pontiac Solstice
|
The Pontiac Solstice is a roadster automobile from General Motors. Introduced at the 2004 North American International Auto Show, the Solstice will be produced in Wilmington, Delaware, starting in mid-2005. The exterior styling of the production-version Solstice is similar to that of the Solstice concept (http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=1184) that preceded it. Pricing begins at US$19,995. Production of the Solstice was to be running before summer, 2005, but delays at the Wilmington plant have pushed volume production to the fourth quarter [1] (http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=102249).
The Solstice uses the GM Kappa platform, which has also been suggested as a platform for a new Saab Sonett. Pontiac will produce an optional hardtop for the convertible Solstice, and may eventually build a fixed-roof coupe version. These would be eligible for SCCA autocross and other amateur racing events.
Other Things worth Mentioning
