Pierce County is a county located in the state of North Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 4,675. Its county seat is Rugby6.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,803 km² (1,082 mi²). 2,636 km² (1,018 mi²) of it is land and 167 km² (64 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.95% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 4,675 people, 1,964 households, and 1,276 families residing in the county. The population density is 2/km² (5/mi²). There are 2,269 housing units at an average density of 1/km² (2/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 98.50% White, 0.11% Black or African American, 0.68% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.04% from other races, and 0.41% from two or more races. 0.60% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,964 households out of which 28.20% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.40% are married couples living together, 6.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.00% are non-families. 32.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.10% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
