There have been three professional baseball teams based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania known as the Philadelphia Athletics:
1. The Philadelphia Athletics were a major league baseball team that played in the National Association from 1871-1875 and in the National League in 1876.
2. The Philadelphia Athletics were a major league baseball team that played in the American Association from 1882-1890.
3. The Philadelphia Athletics were a major league baseball team that played in the American League from 1901-1954. The team moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1955 and later moved to Oakland, California in 1968 where they continue to operate today.
