Pakenham railway station, Melbourne
|
Pakenham (station code: PAK) is a suburban railway station in Melbourne, Australia, located in the outer-eastern suburb of Pakenham. It is the end of the Pakenham line, and the start of the Traralgon regional line. The station is a premium station, meaning it is staffed full-time, has full booking office & waiting facilities, as well as toilets.
The station first opened in 1877 as one of the original stops on the Melbourne-to-Sale railway line, although the whole line was not completed until 1879. In 1970 the station buildings were replaced with a new pebblestone structure and in 1975 the suburban services were extended to here. In 2004, the local council issued a proposal for the redevelopment of the current station.
