Override

The word override can be used in several different contexts:
- A manual override is any arrangement that allows a user to take control of an otherwise automatic system.
- Override is a 1994 American science fiction genre short film.
- In the telecommunications industry, an override is a four-digit number that allows callers to make a call using the services of a company other than their pre-selected phone company.
- In object oriented programming, an override is a concept related to polymorphism and inheritance. See also: Overload
- In sales:
- In traditional sales environments, an override is a commission paid to managers on sales made by their subordinates, usually calculated as a percentage of the gross sales commissions earned by the salesperson.
- Similarly, in multi-level marketing, agents receive a commission on sales made by their downline (recruited agents).
