The ovenbirds or Horneros are a large family of small passerine bird species found in South America. They form the family Furnariidae. They should not be confused with the Ovenbird, Seiurus aurocapillus, which is a wood warbler in the family Parulidae.
This is a diverse group of insectivores which gets its name from the elaborate clay nests built by some species, although others build stick nests or nest in tunnels or clefts in rock. The nests are always constructed with a cover; up to six blue or white eggs are laid. Most are forest birds, but some are found in more open habitats.
