Ochazuke
|
Ochazuke (お茶漬け, cha tea + zuke) is a very simple Japanese dish where green tea is poured over a bowl of plain rice, roughly in the same proportion as milk over cereal.
Common toppings include wasabi, soy, pickled vegetables, fish (raw or cooked), sesame seeds, furikake, and/or nori (seaweed).
The dish is easy to make and provides a great way to use leftover rice as a quick snack.
Also known as cha-cha gohan.
In Kyoto, Ochazuke is known as Bubuzuke. When a native Kyoto person asks a person if he or she wants to eat bubuzuke, it really means that the person has overstayed and is being politely asked to leave.
