Number One Dime

The Number One Dime is an artifact of the fictional Scrooge McDuck universe, the first coin that Scrooge McDuck ever earned. The Number One Dime first appeared in the story titled "The Round Money Bin", created by Carl Barks and first published in Uncle Scrooge #3 (September, 1953).
According to The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa, Scrooge earned the dime when he started working as a shoeshine boy on his tenth birthday. Before that it belonged to Howard Rockerduck (the father of John Rockerduck). The customer who paid it to him cheated McDuck with the American coin, and McDuck kept it as a reminder not to be fooled in the future. When he later emmigrated to America three years later he carried it with him. Scrooge still has the dime and keeps it on a pillow under glass because it is very special to him. Donald Duck, Huey Dewey and Louie, and Gladstone Gander among many others think it is really a lucky charm, but Scrooge himself maintains it has only sentimental value. Magica De Spell believes the dime has magic powers inside it and she tries to steal it from Scrooge so she can melt the coin into an amulet for herself.
In "The Treasury of Croesus", a story made by Keno Don Rosa, the dime proves that Scrooge is indeed the richest person that ever lived on earth. In that story Scrooge discovers the first coin ever minted by Croesus, who is said to have been richer than Scrooge. He gives the coin to Magica, who creates an amulet from it. An amulet created with first coin of the richest man ever, is said to give Magica the powers of Midas. The amulet made of Croesus coin does not give her that power, so it's proven that Scrooge was richer than Croesus.
