North Rocks

North Rocks is a well-established area located 26 km northwest of central Sydney, Australia, and is considered part of 'The Hills' and 'The Northern Districts' of Sydney. North Rocks is characterised by a large golf course, the steep Barclay Road and a town centre incorporating of The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children, Westfield Shoppingtown North Rocks and a number of street shops.
North Rocks is under both Baulkham Hills Shire Council and Parramatta City Council jurisdiction, and is in reasonable proximity to Sydney central business district, Epping, Carlingford, Castle Hill and Parramatta. Residents claim that is an affordable suburb which provides a peaceful and picturesque living experience.
North Rocks also consists of a large reserve, a community centre, a cemetery, 3 petrol stations and a choice of schools all located on North Rocks Road, which runs through the heart of North Rocks, from North Parrammatta to Carlingford. Muirfield golf course and Muirfield High School (http://www.muirfield.nsw.edu.au/) are found on Barclay Road which runs off North Rocks Road to Baulkham Hills. North Rocks is also home to a number of industrial businesses such as UniLever Rexona all located nearest to North Parramatta on the southern outskirts of the suburb near Loyalty Road.
The M2 Motorway is within easy reach from North Rocks Rd and runs through North Rocks. Public transport to, from and throughout the area is provided by bus with train stations accessible from nearby Epping and Parramatta. Darling Mills State Forest runs parallel with North Rocks adding to the picturesque quality of the suburb.
The name North Rocks it was the area to the north of Parramatta where the sandstone rocks were mined to construct Parramatta Gaol and Lake Parramatta dam. Earlier the area was also know as Jerusalem Rocks.
