Noonday is a city located in Smith County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 515.
Noonday is perhaps best known for the "Noonday Onion", reputed by many to be one of the sweetest onions available. An onion must be grown within a ten mile radius of Noonday in order to be considered a "Noonday Onion". The Noonday Onion Festival in held each year in May.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 515 people, 206 households, and 152 families residing in the city. The population density is 99.9/km² (258.6/mi²). There are 222 housing units at an average density of 43.1/km² (111.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 93.20% White, 6.02% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.39% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.19% from two or more races. 3.50% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 206 households out of which 29.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.5% are married couples living together, 5.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.2% are non-families. 21.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 2.93.
In the city the population is spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who are 65 years of age or older.
