Nimrodel
|
In Tolkien's Middle-earth, Nimrodel was the name of both a river and an Elf of Lórien.
Nimrodel was the beloved of Amroth, last Silvan Elf lord of Lórien. She lived near the river in a tree-house, and later joined her beloved when he departed south to Edhellond to leave from Middle-earth for Valinor. However Nimrodel was lost in the Ered Nimrais, and while searching for her Amroth was lost himself forever.
After Nimrodel and Amroth had both been lost the river was named after her. This river began in the foothills of the Hithaeglir under the mountain Celebdil (Silvertine), and then flowed through Lórien until it met the Celebrant (river Silverlode).
