New Zealand Music Awards

The New Zealand Music Awards, colloquially known as the Tuis, have been awarded yearly since 1966 to outstanding New Zealand musicians and groups.
The awards are presented by the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ) at an invitation-only function in Auckland.
The 2004 awards were handed out on April 30, 2004.
The categories in 2004 were:
- Single of the year
- Album of the year
- Best group
- Best solo artist
- Best male vocalist
- Best female vocalist
- Breakthrough artist of the year
- Songwriter of the year
- International achievement
- Best dance album
- Best jazz album
- Best classical album
- Best roots album
- Best Mana Reo album
- Best Mana Maori album
- Best Pacific Island album
- Best urban album
- Best music video
- Highest selling NZ album
- Highest selling NZ single
- Best cover design
- Engineer of the year
- Producer of the year
- Best music radio programmer
The winners included P-Money, Bic Runga, Dave Dobbyn, The Datsuns, The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Soul and Goodshirt.
