New Marlborough is a town located in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,494. The community of Clayton is part of the town of New Marlborough.
History
New Marlborough was first settled in 1738 and was officially incorporated in 1775.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 124.0 km² (47.9 mi²). 122.2 km² (47.2 mi²) of it is land and 1.8 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.44% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,494 people, 582 households, and 403 families residing in the town. The population density is 12.2/km² (31.7/mi²). There are 963 housing units at an average density of 7.9/km² (20.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.52% White, 1.67% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.54% from two or more races. 1.14% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
