New Brunswick Highway 8

New Brunswick Highway 8 is an important highway link between northern and southern New Brunswick, Canada. Approximately 255 kilometres long, it runs from Fredericton to Bathurst via Miramichi.
Highway 8 branches apart from the New Brunswick Highway 2 (the Trans-Canada Highway) west of Fredericton, and uses a former TCH alignment to loop around the southern part of the city on a 4-lane expressway before crossing to the north side of the Saint John River on the Princess Margaret Bridge. North of Fredericton, the highway follows the west bank of the Nashwaak River to Taymouth, then turns northeast to meet the Southwest Miramichi River at Boiestown. The highway then follows the river through Doaktown, Blackville and Renous. From Renous, the road becomes a two-lane expressway until it reaches Miramichi city limits. The highway is designated the King George Highway through the former towns of Newcastle and Douglastown, then turns northward. Bypassing the village of Allardville, it ends at an interchange with New Brunswick Highway 11 south of Bathurst.
