Närpes (Närpiö in Finnish) is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Ostrobothnia region. The municipality has a population of 9,575 (2003) and covers an area of 977.70 km² of which 7.55 km² is water. The population density is 9.9 inhabitants per km².
The municipality is unilingually Swedish, although their Swedish dialect has been isolated from the mainstream Swedish and is hard to understand for a standard Swedish speaker.
