Mufid Libohova or Mufid Bej Libohova (1876-1927), was Prime Minister of Albania 1913 - 1914. In addition, he was an Albanian government member on nine occasions between 1912-1927, holding the positions of Justice Minister, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was also the founder of the Albanian national bank (Bank of Albania). Mufid bej Libohova belongs to one of the oldest powerful dynasties of Albanian aristocracy that goes back to the 13th century and ruled over the princedom of Janina for three centuries. He was a high rank diplomat of the Ottoman empires and, later, deputy for Albania in the Constantinople parliament. Illustrious statesman and patriot, he was one of the national leaders who proclaimed the independence of Albania in 1912. He was Minister of the Interior, and, later Foreign Minister in the first government of free Albania. The great Powers appointed him as representative for Albania in the International Control Commission. He was also an important historian and writer, author of many books and issues of historical and juridical character. In 1924 he returned back to Albania from Exile with his followers and helped overthrow the government of Fan Noli.
