Munfordville is a town located in Hart County, Kentucky. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,563. It is the county seat of Hart CountyTemplate:GR.
The town was once known as Big Buffalo Crossing. The current name came from Richard Jones Munford, who donated the land for development in 1816.

Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,563 people, 698 households, and 418 families residing in the city. The population density is 238.5/km² (619.0/mi²). There are 776 housing units at an average density of 118.4/km² (307.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 87.33% White, 11.45% Black or African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.13% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. 1.09% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 698 households out of which 23.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.4% are married couples living together, 14.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.0% are non-families. 36.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.18 and the average family size is 2.82.
In the city the population is spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 22.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 82.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 77.1 males.
