Mudug

Mudug is a region (gobolka) in central Somalia. Its capital is Galcaio. It is bordered by Ethiopia, the Somalian regions of Nugaal and Galguduud and the Indian Ocean.
The region's main inhabitants belong to the habargedir clan, and also abgal(waceysle,shekhal,part of the hawiye clan family and brother dir clan, and affiliated clans inhabiting the southern somalia.
The population of Mudug Region is nearly 1.5 million, which 60% belonging to the hawiye clan and 40% to the Daarood Clan, A great number of Mudug people live in other parts of Somalia and foreign countries.
Politically, socially and economically the region is integrated with southern somalia. It also shares ties with extended family members of the darod clans living in the neighbouring puntland region.
Mudug Region consists of 5 Districts which are as followed.
1- Galkacayo Majeerteen, habar gidir, Leelkase, Awrtable
3- Haradhere Hawiye, Majeerteen,
4- Hobyo Habar Gidir
